A show by Nevsky Prospekt
Ages 4 and up
Ives and Jotka have known each other for a very long time, but they have never played together. The time has finally come to do so. He is a little older, slower, and gentler. She is young, impetuous, fast, and trains a lot. Ives also has a dream: he wants to dance once again like Ginger Rogers in the movie “Cheek to Cheek,” complete with feathers. He’s just looking for a Fred. Maybe Jotka wants to play him?
Ginger is the new show by Nevski Prospekt, written and performed by Ives Thuwis and Jotka Bauwens. Their special friendship is told through various interconnected scenes that culminate in a re-enactment of the iconic dance by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Ives with feathers, Jotka in a tuxedo.
Ginger shows that you can be who you are: young or old, sweet or wild, fast or slow, male or female, and everything in between. Ives and Jotka explore the theme of gender with great openness and happily mix clichés about what is considered typical of boys or girls, without judging. And, of course, Ginger also talks about trust and friendship between generations.
