Bodies That Speak

Nonverbal Communication Workshop for Teachers
conceived and led by Omar Meza of the DA.TE Danza company—Contemporary Dance for Early Childhood, Children, and Youth (Granada)

Bodies That Speak is an experiential workshop for teachers that offers an in-depth exploration of nonverbal language as a tool for communication, creation, and knowledge. Through movement, observation, listening, and writing, participants will discover how every body has a unique way of expressing itself, telling stories, and constructing meaning.

We will start from the premise that the body speaks constantly. Before words, there is a body language rich with stories, emotions, memories, and ways of relating to the world. During the workshop, we will learn to listen to this language and recognize the many forms of expression that emerge from bodies in motion.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained greater awareness of their own body language, expanded their abilities to observe and listen, and experienced the narrative, expressive, and poetic potential of the body. In addition, they will have acquired practical tools for incorporating body-based work and nonverbal communication into their educational contexts.

Participation is free with advance registration starting September 10, 2026
