Theater and gender: education to differences is at theater

In the context of teaching didactic innovation and educational technologies (fourth year of the degree in Primary Teacher Education), this degree programme gives its students the chance to get together and discuss the use of theatrical language as a didactic strategy for learning consciously to build an identity and respect the one of others, while acknowledging the existence of gender differences in family, school and social contexts.

Alessandro Berti, writer and director for theater, will lead the work of the group starting from the relationship between truth and self-representation, as it appears in two fields: affectivity/sexuality and artistic experience, especially through literature.

In particular the group will work on: a) the relationship between sentimental/sexual desire and the perception of difference based on: race, gender, age, culture, abilities; b) relationship between individual imprinting and social structure of taste, needs, desires; this will be analyzed comparing each one’s models in the artistic fields (literature, music, cinema, etc.); c) reflections on gender, race and identity stereotypes, seen not only as negative elements but as inevitable starting points of awareness.

In collaboration with CGSE – Centro Studi sul Genere e l’Educazione, Dipartimento di Scienze dell’Educazione “Giovanni Maria Bertin” of Università di Bologna.

From March 2020.

The workshop is structured in 6 meetings of 4 hours each.

To the participants will be recognized university credits.
